Recently the Auditor Training Online crew teamed up with Auditor Training Centre and attended the Reinvent Your Career Expo in Brisbane, AUS.
Hopefully, we have reinvented some peoples’ careers and given hope to people who have become a little disillusioned with their job. Over the past weekend we have spoken to over 120 people at the “Reinvent my career” expo here in Brisbane who were enthusiastically wanting to essentially “get another job”. …and what is so interesting about our profession “management system auditing” is that you don’t have to throw away all your existing knowledge. In fact, the more knowledge you have in your industry the better; it’s just that you don’t want to, or you are unable to continue to do the so-called “heavy lifting”.
So who were these people that came to see us? Many were health workers who had found the years of being on their feet, of endless shift work and rosters, and also of working weekends was taking its toll. Many were from the resource sector, which of course is currently suffering a downturn. Other sectors that people came from included; community services, transport, information security and manufacturing to name few.
But what all of these people had in common was they all knew what was required in their sector. The nurses knew about the issues with prescriptions and doctors handwriting, the welding inspector from the resource sector knew all about non-destructive testing and the importance of weld traceability and calibration. The driver who had flown in from Darwin knew all about the trucks, buses, fatigue management and the transport of hazardous goods.
And all of these amazing people would make perfect auditors, because the one thing about auditing is, you have to know your topic.
